Head of State travels to Zambia on Monday

Luanda, ANGOLA, May 1 - The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, is to visit the Republic of Zambia on 02-03 May, with the goal of reinforcing the friendship and bilateral co-operation relations between the two states. ,

João Lourenço will be heading a delegation comprised of about eleven governmental ministers and 25 entrepreneurs.

 

The Angolan Head of State is to be received in an audience by his Zambian counterpart, Edgar Chagwa Lungu, as well as he is to hold a meeting with the Angolan community residing in this neighbouring country.

 

ANGOP has learnt that, besides the holding of official talks, it is also scheduled the signing of some agreements.

 

João Lourenço’s agenda also includes a courtesy visit to the Zambian first president, Kenneth David Kahunda, as well as a visit to an steel factory and chemical plant, among other activities.

 

An Angola/Zambia Business Forum is also scheduled to take place, with a view to promoting entrepreneurial opportunities between the two countries.     

 

Zambia buys from Angola products like fish, salt, cement, fuel and lubricants, whereas the neighbour country sells to Angola some agricultural goods, with highlight on maize.

 

The Angola/Zambia business volume is currently of about USD 10 million per year.

 

Angola and Zambia share a border of about 1000 kilometres.
