Africa: Assistant Secretary Jose W. Fernandez Traveling to South Africa and Zambia

Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Jose W. Fernandez will travel to South Africa from June 6 to 7 and to Zambia from June 8 to 9.
During his trip to South Africa, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will meet with South African government officials and industry representatives to discuss bilateral trade and investment opportunities. He will also meet with Agri Business Chamber members and give a speech at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) of the University of Pretoria.
Assistant Secretary Fernandez will participate in the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum in Zambia on June 9 and he will chair the session entitled “Achieving an African Green Revolution through Science, Technology and Innovation.” He will deliver keynote remarks on requirements for export into the U.S. market with USAID trade hubs in the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program (AWEP) session, and participate in the supporting Africa’s agribusiness potential panel during the private sector day. During his trip, Assistant Secretary Fernandez will also engage with the Zambian and other countries’ government officials and private sector representatives to discuss Africa’s agricultural and trade growth.
